The Cassandra Project
Click to DonateThe Cassandra Project is a trilogy of short scripted films highlighting the dangerously high stakes that can arise when women are disbelieved and their voices are disregarded and dismissed. Each of the short films will feature a female protagonist of a different age, from a different background, in very different circumstances.
Three films. Three genres. Three scenarios. One unifying and terrifying truth – when women’s voices are not heard, it is very dangerous for everyone.
Inspired by the experience of Emmy Award winning director, Barclay DeVeau, who spent more than eight months attempting to get a diagnosis for a severe medical condition only to be repeatedly dismissed and disregarded by numerous doctors as her condition worsened, The Cassandra Project is a response to her own dismissal and the dismissal of so many women in virtually every arena imaginable. The trilogy will shed light on the real life horrors that occur when women are disregarded, and inspire change by opening people’s eyes to the dangerous realities of gender disparity.
Barclay has rallied her colleagues from across film, media and other industries to join forces on The Cassandra Project. The multi-award winning creative team and cast believe presenting three separate female protagonist’s stories in a trilogy with one unifying theme will be extremely impactful, inspire conversation and help affect change. Barclay’s own story of being disbelieved by doctors until she was critical will become a horror film, because, well…that’s what it was. The other films include a crime drama and a psychological fantasy.
If you believe in the importance of amplifying women’s voices and putting an end to dangerous gender disparity, please join Barclay and The Cassandra Project team by contributing if you are able and spreading the word to your friends and colleagues who want to be a part of the solution. Together, we will affect change. #Listen2Us
